Design: 910 Hopen

Located at 910 Hopen in the Hollywood Hills, this 4,000 square foot house, includes four bedrooms/five bathrooms and allows stunning views of both the city and the ocean. It sits on a 10,580 square foot lot with an infinity pool and spa, both of which have LED lighting and can be heated by either gas or solar power.

I think this home is beautiful and incredibly modern. Listing price is a bit south of 10 MM.

A Beautiful Video on Daily Gratitude (TEDx)

"And my wish for you is that you will open your heart to all the blessings around you and let them flow through you. And that everyone that you will meet on this day, will be blessed by you. Just by your eyes - by your smile - by your touch...and just by your presence.

Let the gratefulness overflow into blessing all around you. And then it will really be a good day."

A Flying Man...Literally

Dutch mechanical engineer Jarno Smeets invented this flapping wings contraption. He developed the wings over an 8-month period. The wings use a special motion mechanism that is controlled by custom software controlled by a haptic system. The system allows him to literally start flapping his arms while running to take off and fly...like a bird!

Amazing TED Talk by Larry Smith on Passion

Jiro Dreams of Sushi

About The Film

JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI is the story of 85 year-old Jiro Ono, considered by many to be the world’s greatest sushi chef. He is the proprietor of Sukiyabashi Jiro, a 10-seat, sushi-only restaurant inauspiciously located in a Tokyo subway station. Despite its humble appearances, it is the first restaurant of its kind to be awarded a prestigious 3 star Michelin review, and sushi lovers from around the globe make repeated pilgrimage, calling months in advance and shelling out top dollar for a coveted seat at Jiro’s sushi bar.

For most of his life, Jiro has been mastering the art of making sushi, but even at his age he sees himself still striving for perfection, working from sunrise to well beyond sunset to taste every piece of fish; meticulously train his employees; and carefully mold and finesse the impeccable presentation of each sushi creation. At the heart of this story is Jiro’s relationship with his eldest son Yoshikazu, the worthy heir to Jiro’s legacy, who is unable to live up to his full potential in his father’s shadow.

The feature film debut of director David Gelb, Jiro Dreams of Sushi is a thoughtful and elegant meditation on work, family, and the art of perfection, chronicling Jiro’s life as both an unparalleled success in the culinary world, and a loving yet complicated father.

How to Drink Six Days Straight

.
Let me begin with a spoiler alert:

This writing is not about a week’s worth of alcohol consumption, but rather a week of fasting.

“Why are you doing it?” may have been the most prevalent question I was asked this week, surpassing the most general inquiry, “so what are you doing this weekend?” Yesterday was definitely the toughest day to get through as my senses were awakened with aromas of various foods permeating throughout the ‘coachellas’ of my nostrils. My stomach began to growl more, and I began to get quite hungry.

So why did I do it?

Primarily, I just like to shake shit up from time to time and the benefits of giving your digestive system a rest sounded great. Another reason is because although I will enjoy a meal tonight, there will be millions of people throughout the world who will not be able to do the same. Other reasons include wanting to see how disciplined I really was and how centered I could become this week through mediation to reach clarity of mind.

So the next question is: “did it work?”

For sure. I actually don't see how it could have not affected me - even in the slightest sense. It’s given me something great to talk about rather than partake in the seemingly robotic conversations that happen daily. I indeed did give my digestive system a rest and although I am hungry, I honestly feel stronger…mentally. But more than anything, I have realized that so much can be accomplished with will-power, discipline and a goal.

Be great this weekend, friends.

A Day Made of Glass: Part 2

If this is how the future will be inside the classroom, then I am a bit jealous. Conversely, every child should always know what a Crayon is.

Value Your Own Wisdom

The Truths Within
Value Your Own Wisdom

Throughout our lives, we will encounter individuals who presume to know what is best for us. The insights they offer cannot compare, however, with the powers of awareness and discernment that already exist within us. From birth we are blessed with wisdom that cannot be learned or unlearned. It exists whether or not we acknowledge it because it is a gift given to us by a loving universe before we chose to experience existence on the earthly plane. Yet for all its permanence, it is vital that we value and honor this incredible element of the self. It is when we do not use our inborn wisdom that we begin to doubt our personal truths and are driven to outside sources of information because we are afraid. What we know to be true in our hearts is invariably true, and we discover how intensely beautiful and useful self-trust can be when we recognize the power of our wisdom.

Inner wisdom is not subject to the influences of the outside world, which means that it will never demand that we surrender our free will or counsel us to act in opposition to our values. We benefit from this inspiration when we open ourselves to it, letting go of the false notion that we are less qualified than others to determine our fate. The wisdom inside of us is the source of our discernment and our ability to identify blessings in disguise. When we are unsure of who to trust, how to respond, or what we require, the answers lie in our inner wisdom. It knows where we are going and understands where we are coming from, taking this into account though it is not a product of experience but rather a piece of our connection to the universal mind.

In the whole of your existence, no force you will ever encounter will contribute as much to your ability to do what you need to do and be who you want to be as your natural wisdom. Through it, you reveal your growing consciousness to the greater source and discover the true extent of your strength. If you heed this wisdom with conviction and confidence, the patterns, people, and fears that held you back will be dismantled, paving the way for you to fulfill your truest potential.
